Royalhouse Chapel fetes the underprivileged, Daily Graphic

THE General Overseer of the Royalhouse Chapel International, Reverend Sam Korankye Ankrah, has urged Ghanaians to use the New Year season to forgive and reunite with one another.
He said Ghanaians should take advantage of the season and put the past behind them, especially issues connected with the 2012 election petition and all forms of differences among politicians, to ensure peace and national development.
“Let us forge ahead, put our collective efforts together to build a better and prosperous nation,” he urged.
End of year party
Rev. Korankye Ankrah was speaking at the annual party organised by the church for the underprivileged in Accra on Boxing Day.
Children from 10 orphanages in Accra and the Eastern Region attended the party, as well as head porters (popularly called ‘kayayei’) and some street children.
They were given breakfast and lunch, after which they were presented with gifts, including exercise books, text books, clothes, drinks, biscuits and toys.
This year, the church collaborated with the Ministry of Health which provided about 10 mobile van clinics that screened and treated about 1000 beneficiaries for various ailments.
The beneficiaries were also given medication.
Rev. Korankye Ankrah said the party had been organised for the past 10 years to demonstrate the love of God.
He said the yuletide demonstrated the love of God for mankind and it was, therefore, an occasion for sharing, giving, showing love and leaving the past behind.
He called on churches and non-governmental organisations to support the government to meet the needs of the people. He also thanked the sponsors of the party for their support.
Health Minister
The Minister of Health, Ms Sherry Ayittey, who attended the party, said the health aspect of the event was intended to provide basic health care for the underprivileged.
She announced that with the availability of the mobile clinics, the ministry would from next year collaborate with churches to provide free medical screening and care during crusades in the rural areas.
That, she said, would be part of the government’s interventions at taking care of the basic health needs of the people.
